Nathan draws upon more than a dozen years of experience in politics, state government, and strategic communications to advise business and non-profit executives in a diverse range of sectors, including health and human services, transportation, K-12 and higher education, community development, and sustainable natural resource management. As a founding member of Michael Best Strategies’ Business and Community Solutions team, Nathan has worked successfully in the public affairs and community engagement space and has a strong background in building, maintaining and activating coalitions on a range of issues.

Prior to joining Michael Best Strategies, Nathan was chief of staff to the minority leader in the Wisconsin State Senate, Senator Jennifer Shilling. He has been an aide to three members of the Wisconsin State Assembly and a senior aide to a member of Wisconsin’s Joint Finance Committee, which has legislative oversight of the $76 billion state budget and all state appropriations and revenues. Nathan has extensive knowledge of the Wisconsin Legislature and the state biennial budget process.
Nathan previously served as the Director of Legislation and Advocacy for the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans. In that role, he was the association’s primary legislative lobbyist and provided policy analysis and strategic advice on state legislative and regulatory matters for member health plans. He has worked on numerous state and local political campaigns, and regularly advises political candidates in Wisconsin.
