“At Strategies, we’re focused on solving problems. By combining our unique mix of public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, and shared value consulting, our team offers creative solutions to solve the biggest challenges facing businesses and organizations today.”

As a senior member with Michael Best Strategies, Nathan leverages more than a decade of experience in public affairs and government relations to support clients’ interests. He is also a member of Strategies’ Shared Value Consulting Team, helping clients identify opportunities that lead to local business growth and create significant, positive societal impact.

Nathan brings a unique knowledge of public affairs, communications strategy, and political campaign experience to his role with Strategies, most recently serving as chief of staff to the minority leader in the Wisconsin State Senate, Senator Jennifer Shilling. In this role, he developed and oversaw strategic communication and legislative plans for the senate Democratic caucus, oversaw state senate administrative functions, and worked to design the caucus campaign strategy.

During Nathan’s time in Senator Shilling’s office, he also served as legislative director where he managed the senator’s policy agenda, served as senior advisor to a member of the state budget-writing Joint Finance Committee, and collaborated with caucus leadership staff to develop policy and communications policy. He has also been a legislative aide for three members of the State Assembly.

Nathan served as director of legislation and advocacy for the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans where he served as the primary legislative lobbyist on issues affecting member health plans and provided policy analysis and strategic advice on state legislative and regulatory matters. Nathan has also worked on numerous local and state political campaigns. During the 2011 Special Election in Wisconsin’s 32nd State Senate District he was the deputy regional campaign and finance director for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Nathan is a proud Badger fan, having received both his undergraduate degree and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
